Streets

The Street Division is responsible for maintaining all the streets, alleys, and sidewalks within in the Town.  Maintenance includes:

• Maintaining street markings and signs
• Patching and sealing cracks
• Maintaining the streets, curbs and gutters
• Maintaining the dams
• Sweeping streets
• Cleaning catch basins

 The Parks Division is responsible for all Town-owned parks, totaling 16 acres. The following work is performed by department workers with the assistance of community service workers:

• Cleaning up in the fall and spring
• Maintaining and landscaping lawns in the summer
• Inspecting and repairing playground equipment
• Cleaning and maintaining park facilities and restrooms

Riverside Cemetery is a town owned and operated facility with approximately 1,000 interments since 1940. There are veterans from all wars beginning with the Civil War interred at Riverside Cemetery. The property is primarily rolling hills with a large variety of trees, shrubs, and plants. Riverside Cemetery is one of the few remaining cemeteries that still allow upright grave markers to be placed on gravesites. The Town of Murfreesboro encourages you to visit Riverside Cemetery. Carvers Park Cemetery is also a town owned and operated facility with approximately 200 interments.
